China relegated, Germany win women’s team sprint

LONDON (Reuters) – We all thought China won the women’s track cycling team sprint gold on Thursday with Germany taking silver, while Australia claimed bronze.

Then we received news that China was relegated in the women’s Olympic track cycling team sprint, meaning Germany won gold, organisers said without giving a reason.

China was handed silver instead. Australia had earlier beaten Ukraine in the bronze medal match.
