Cyclists bring cheer to orphans in Kemaman

KEMAMAN: Alam Maritim Resources Bhd (AMRB) in collaboration with New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Sports Club recently organised a Charity Cycling Campaign at Chukai, here.

Orphans of Cakna Anak Yatim Kemaman are all smiles after receiving bicycles from Alam Maritim Resources Bhd.

About 100 underprivileged children and AMRB personnel cycled along the 10.9km route, starting from Kemaman Supply Base office and ending at Pantai Penunjuk Kijal.

The campaign themed “Together We Care”, was aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle through cycling activity while doing its bit for charity.

Cakna Anak Yatim Kemaman (Cakna) and Maahad Tahfiz Darul Uloom were the beneficiaries of the campaign.

Besides cycling, the AMRB staff also planted 300 tree saplings of Rhu along the beach to conserve the environment.

AMRB chief executive officer Datuk Azmi Ahmad said one of the objectives of the campaign was to promote the “charity in sports” concept.

“We are donating 100 bicycles, food, school items and cash to the Cakna Anak Yatim Kemaman. We hope this donation will benefit 1,200 orphans from the home.
