Third velodrome to be built in Perlis
THE country’s third velodrome will not be built in the east coast or anywhere near Nilai, Negri Sembilan.

Instead, 2014 Malaysia Games hosts Perlis have, without much fanfare, confirmed that the state will be constructing a basic facility in the vicinity of Batu Pahat, Perlis.
Perlis Cycling Association secretary Maniam Manikkam said the state government has confirmed that a velodrome is part of the new facilities planned for the 2014 Malaysia Games.
“It is already at the stage where the project is open for tender. It looks to be running smooth and if all goes to plan, we should have the velodrome up and running well before the 2014 Malaysia Games,” said Maniam.
This will be the third velodrome in the country after the Velodrom Rakyat in Ipoh, which was constructed in 1986, and the Kuala Lumpur Velodrome in Cheras which was opened in 1989.
